Heptovir (Lamivudine) is a type of medication called as antivirals. It is used to treat issues like chronic hepatitis infection, hepatitis B replication and HIV from spreading.


It belongs to a class of drugs called as the Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors - NNRTI which used to treat HIV, hepatitis and similar virus from causing effect on other body organs. It is important to understand that the medication does not cure the infection. It only controls its spread to vital organs. 


Common side effects of using Heptovir (Lamivudine) includes - Headache, rash, hives, dizziness, pain or discomfort, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, etc. 


However, much serious side effects may include - 

  • Serious infection of liver 
  • Clay colored stools
  • Pain in upper stomach 
  • Extreme back or body pain
