Its original usage
In the initial phase this compound was developed to be used as an antifungal agent. However at a later stage this usage or application was discontinued. In the present times the compound has been approved y the Food and Drug Association of the US. This was confirmed in September 1999. The compound is sold under the trade name of Rapamune by Pfizer.
